About

meGreetings
me What can one say in this format that isn’t self-aggrandizing? The very authorship of a blog reveals perhaps, some form of egocentrism, does it not? Yet to deny or denigrate the existence of this inate human condition, is to deny ourselves. After all, we are–each of us–the protagonist in the narrative of our life. Within the dramatic throughline of our personal stories, there is something universal to be found; a quality transcending gender, race, and culture; a quality connecting us all together as human beings. I’ve decided to keep this blog as a way to connect the personal with the universal. It is one of millions in a giant blogosphere. What are the odds that you landed here? I hope you see something you like. If you do, please leave a comment or contact me. Happy travels.

About the Author
Here, I will provide some context through which you may wish to interpret the posts on this site. What type of a person am I? In what pigeon-hole could I be made to fit? (You will need to bludgeon me into one.) This part, really kind of bores me, so here it is. Everywhere I tend to end up, people are confounded as to why I am there. I do not have an answer for them, except perhaps the suggestion to think outside of the pidgeon-hole for a little bit. As a child, I was exposed to many sports, but hated them all. I discovered Boy Scouts quite on my own, and fell in love with the outdoor lifestyle. Later, I discovered art and literature. These activities and past-times brought me great joy at an early age. Likewise, they probably contributed to a Romantic vision of myself and the world, which is probably what led me to my first great error decision: attending The Virginia Military Institute. While there, I endured a great adventure along (as VMI likes to quote) “the path less traveled”. My grades suffered due to the fact that study-time at The Institute was routinely compromised by various military duties. None the less, I had some of the greatest professors in the world. Among them was my mentor Gordon Ball who was very close to Allen Ginsberg and the Beats during the 60’s. Through him I had an intimate one-on-one discussion with Allen Ginsberg in 1990. It is a love/hate relationship that I have with those years, for though VMI was not a proper place for someone with my aspirations; I do not think I could have had better professors or academic experiences anywhere else. Also, there is something quite positive to be said of leading a rather spartan and monastic life-style. Surely those years will have the biggest influence on anything written here.
Since then, I have owned several businesses: A prop company that took orders from various independent film studios as well as one order from the set of Paramount’s Voyager; A freelance graphic design company; and a coffee shop. Today, I serve society as a project manager.
